Velddrif Business Chamber AGM to be held the 14th March 2024

Subject: Join us at the Velddrif Business Chamber’s Annual Prestige AGM!

We wanted to give you a heads up about the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) hosted by the Velddrif Business Chamber. It’s going to be held at the beautiful Soverby Lapa, and we couldn’t be more excited!

In the past two years, we’ve had an amazing turnout with over 120 to 130 attendees. So, we highly encourage you, your colleagues, friends, and anyone else interested to secure your spot in advance. Trust us, you don’t want to miss out on this one!

This year’s AGM is going to be a bit different from previous years. We’ll be showcasing some of the new businesses in our area and recognizing outstanding service with the presentation of trophies to businesses and individuals who have truly made a difference in our town. We also want to remind everyone to cast their votes (not for themselves) for the business or person they believe deserves recognition for excellent service or community impact.

In addition to the AGM, we’re also calling upon our business community to nominate capable and willing candidates to serve on the committee. While the current members are available for re-election, the Chairman position needs to be voted in again by the Business Chamber members. The current chairman is willing to continue serving, but he needs to be voted in or a suitable replacement should be found. We suggest considering one of the current committee members or the Vice Chairperson, who has been filling the role on an occasional basis, to ensure continuity for sustainable governance.

Lastly, we’ll be discussing the endorsement of the Rates Payers Association to establish a relationship with the local municipality of Bergrivier. This association is set to be established in 2024, and it will be in the best interest of both businesses and private homeowners.

There seems to be around 331 active businesses operating within the Velddrif/Port Owen/Laaiplek and Noordhoek areas.  On the other hand, there seems to be around 14 000 people calling Velddrif/Port Owen/Laaiplek and Noordhoek home.  Total turnover in 2022 is estimated at R1,5bn. The research quantitatively and spatially describes and maps the local business environment and explores the inter-business trade linkages.  It presents a current picture of the local business economy with a view of the future prospects.
